Modelling and mathematical analysis of micro-swimmers in biology (6 Jul 2026)

This conference will provide an overview of the mathematical issues raised by microswimming - optimal control, fluid-structure interaction, geometric modeling, dynamics of active systems - and will highlight the challenges facing mathematicians in an inherently multidisciplinary field, where rigorous modeling meets the inventiveness of concrete applications. It will bring together master's students, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, researchers, teacher-researchers, and professionals from several fields: biology, mechanics, modeling, and mathematical analysis.

International conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2026) (14 Jul 2026)

The annual international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath) will take place from 14 to 19 June 2026 at the Bolyai Institute of the University of Szeged, Szeged, Hungary.

Biomath 2026 is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biophysics, biochemistry, pharmacokinetics, chemoinformatics, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.

Contributed talks related to the scope of the conference are invited for presentation. Participants need to submit a one or two page abstract indicating clearly the significance of the reported results for the advancement of knowledge in biosciences. If the abstract is for a talk intended for the special session, please communicate this at the time of submission.

Manuscripts based on the conference presentations are welcomed for submission to the journal Biomath (for Volume 15 (2026), the deadline is 30 September 2026).

Workshop on "Collective movement and pattern formation: Biology, modelling and analysis" (27 Jul 2026)

Collective cell migration and pattern formation are entwined phenomena of immense fascination. Development, tissue repair and disease progression all involve coordination between cell movements, growth, and intercellular signalling processes.

The aim of this workshop is to draw together state of the art techniques within (i) the biological mechanisms that underpin processes of collective cell migration and pattern formation, (ii) the mathematical and computational models used to study these phenomena, and (iii) the analytical tools that can be used to unlock core properties contained within these models.

For applications, please visit
Workshop in "Mathematical Approaches to Spatial Biology" (8 Sep 2026)

We are pleased to announce the “Mathematical Approaches to Spatial Biology” symposium, which will take place at Durham University, UK, from Tuesday 8 September to Friday 11 September 2026.

This four-day symposium will focus on the theory and applications of mathematical models for biological systems in which space and structure play a fundamental role. Topics will range from PDEs and agent-based models to multiscale and mean-field approaches, bringing together theoretical and applied mathematicians interested in understanding and validating biological mechanisms in complex spatiotemporal systems.

The list of confirmed speakers and the preliminary programme are available on the workshop website:
