  • 30 Apr 2021
  • North Carolina, USA

The Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program (http://workthatmatters.ncsu.edu) at NC State University seeks an outstanding candidate for an open rank faculty position to expand the new faculty cluster in Quantitative and Computational Developmental Biology (https://qcdb.ncsu.edu/).

Together with NC State’s existing strengths in quantitative/computational sciences and engineering, this interdisciplinary cluster is propelling NC State to the forefront of efforts to define new principles in developing biological systems. Recruiting for the cluster was initiated in 2015 and has resulted in four hires (https://facultyclusters.ncsu.edu/clusters/modeling-the-living-embryo/).

Successful candidates will engage in transformative research that integrates expertise in biological, biophysical, computational, and/or mathematical methods to investigate dynamic phenomena in animal or plant development on any level. We are particularly interested in individuals who can bridge experiment and theory. Applicants whose expertise is mainly in the computational realm are also encouraged to apply.

Priority will be given to individuals with demonstrated successful collaboration as a member of an interdisciplinary and/or multidisciplinary team.

Interested candidates should submit 1) a cover letter describing their prior interdisciplinary and/or multidisciplinary research efforts and how their research addresses the goals of the cluster (https://qcdb.ncsu.edu/); 2) a CV; 3) a 2-3 page research plan; 4) contact information for 3 references.

For more information or to apply, please visit https://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/96124. Review of applications will begin immediately (April 2021) and will continue until the position is filled.

The Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program (http://workthatmatters.ncsu.edu) has brought some of the best and brightest minds to NC State University’s inter- and multidisciplinary efforts to solve some of the globe’s most significant problems. NC State University provides a vibrant environment for research, teaching and mentoring across disciplines; ample opportunities will be available for collaborations across multiple clusters. Our location in the Research Triangle also facilitates interaction with faculty at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as with industry and government agencies.

NC State University is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, genetic information, status as an individual with a disability, or status as a protected veteran.
