PhD position in mathematical systems biology

  • 20 Jun 2021
  • Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
The Department of Mathematics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam invites applications for a PhD position in mathematical systems biology.

In this project we use mathematical modelling to understand whether cells are always able to make optimal investments in cellular resources, and how a cell can reach such optimal states. The ideal candidate for this project has a broad background in  differential equations, optimisation methods and/or control theory, and a keen interest to work together with mathematicians and biologists. Previous knowledge in the life sciences is not a prerequisite, but it is essential that the candidate is motivated to invest in collaborations with biologists and mathematical modelling.
