Title: Modelling the colonisation of multidrug-resistant bacterial strains in the healthcare system 

Abstract: We investigate a mathematical framework for modelling patient colonisation by multidrug-resistant bacteria. A model describing the spread of colonisation across a healthcare system, structured as a network of care units, will be presented. The model accounts for patient movements between units, including both direct hospital-to-hospital transfers and indirect transfers via home stays. It also incorporates various intervention strategies. Time permitting, modelling of colonisation within a single hospital with multiple wards will be briefly discussed. Real-world data will be used to construct and inform the model.
