Postdoctoral Positions in Mathematical and Computational Modeling of Development and Evolution

  • 31 Mar 2026
  • Stockholm University

We invite applications for two postdoctoral researchers to develop mathematical and computational approaches to developmental and evolutionary dynamics in the Milocco’s research group at Stockholm University & SciLifeLab, Sweden.

*Keywords*: dynamical systems, time-series analysis, machine learning, phylogenetics, evolution, development
*Research directions*:
• Data-driven dynamical systems: develop computational and mathematical frameworks to infer dynamical rules of biological development from high-dimensional, noisy biological time-series data using techniques such as nonlinear state-space reconstruction, system identification, and recurrent architectures.
• Developmental constraints on evolution: identify low-dimensional structure in phenotypic variation and incorporate this structure into statistically rigorous comparative models of continuous trait evolution across phylogenies.

Candidates should hold a PhD in quantitative biology, applied mathematics, physics, computational science, statistics, or a related field.
