    Dear ESMTB community,

The Theoretical Biology group in Bielefeld is looking for a new PhD student! We build mathematical models and computer simulations to study questions at the interface between ecology and evolution. We are particularly interested in the biology of small populations and the causes and consequences of diversity, especially of intraspecific genetic and phenotypic diversity.

The exact research topic for the PhD position is still flexible. Potential topic include:

    • consequences of individual differences within a species for population dynamics, e.g., establishment of species in new locations, extinction processes and survival
    • consequences of individual differences for eco-evolutionary dynamics of interacting species in a changing environment
    • models for evolution of genetic and phenotypic variance
    • effects of fluctuating selection on genome-wide genetic diversity

    See

for details and how to apply.

The application deadline is August 14.

If you have questions, please get in touch!

    Best wishes,

    Meike Wittmann
