Title: Spatial ecology, harvesting and game theory: a qualitative approach
Abstract: In this talk, we will present the qualitative results of two of our recent papers, both devoted to the investigation of a deceivingly simple question in spatial ecology: what is the influence of harvesting/fishing on population dynamics? Our main focus is the tragedy of the commons, which states that, when acting in their selfish interest and in uncoordinated fashion, fishermen might lead to the fishes’ extinction. We will present some of our qualitative findings on various queries in optimisation and game theory for spatial models.
